Dope!!!!!!!

As Winter ends so do the constant rotation of bland and muted colors in your wardrobe. With this in mind, Nike unveils a particularly eye catching colorway of their Nike Air Trainer III LE shoes. The mid tops start with a canvas of charcoal and navy blue and adds on a snake skin design that graces the front of the shoe. The most eye-popping aspect is the weaving of neon yellow, dubbed “Volt” by Nike, splashing the sole, air bubble, tongue, upper eyelets and most importantly the iconic swoosh. These trainers are apart of a pack dropping in early April in boutiques with Quickstrike accounts for $110.

I HEART YOU

PLAYGROUND LOVE from ABOVE on Vimeo.
The last work we saw from Above was his piece featuring a guy jacking an ATM machine and giving the loot away, a grimier Robin Hood to say the least. Continuing his generous efforts, we see a new piece from Above entitled Playground Love. The stencil artwork is executed masterfully with a lovey-dovey message wishing everyone a Happy Valentines Day. Check it out!

WTF? Awkward....

Remeber this dude? Played Johnny "Bad Ass" Cash, dude from Gladiator, etc. WTF?

COACHELLA LINE-UP IS HERE

B4MD PREVIEW

BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES tells the story of American music at this precarious moment. Filmmakers Andrew Shapter and Joel Rasmussen traveled the country, hoping to understand why mainstream music seems so packaged and repetitive, and whether corporations really had the power to silence musical innovation. The answers they found on this journey-ultimately, the promise that the future holds-are what makes BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES both riveting and exhilarating.

The Clipse x KAWS - Reup Gang Blog 4

Clipse x Kaws-ReUp Gang Blog 4 from ReUpGangRecords.net on Vimeo.
If you haven’t downloaded Virgina’s own cocaine cowboys The Clipse’s most recent mix tape Road Til The Casket Drops then you not only missed intricate wordplay, superb beat selection and jaw dropping drug metaphors but you also slept on a shout out to Hypebeast and a few references to street art legend Kaws. The duo seemed just as entrenched in street wear and the culture that accompanies it as much as they are into relaying vivid drug tales. On the Reup Gang’s latest video blog entry Pusha T, the most vocal of the duo, explains that a possible collaboration between The Clipse and Kaws may be on the way for the Til The Casket Drops album cover. Kaws, who recently did a similar collaboration with Kanye West, makes a short cameo towards the end of the short clip

You Are Out Of Order...

That's one strange line up.

Hip-hop DJ innovator Steinski joins Hey Champ to kickoff Out of Order—Chicago’s musical superconducting supercollider—on February 26, 2009 at Darkroom.

Surgical precision meets encyclopedic knowledge whenever Steve Stein aka Steinski hits the decks. Introduced to the world alongside Double Dee in 1985 with “The Payoff Mix,” Steinski’s innovative “cut and paste” style left its mark on everyone—from the legendary Coldcut, to recent mashup artists and Girl Talk.

Coming off a banner year that saw the young trio support Lupe Fiasco on a national tour and open for Justice on NYE in their hometown of Chicago, Hey Champ looks poised to spring their tuneful synth melodies, danceable rhythms and catchy lyrics into the musical stratosphere…next stop, SXSW!

Out of Order is a new monthly aimed at bringing a funbalanced dance floor to Chicago’s refracted nightlife. With live performances and DJ sets combining to rock parties as a whole, co-promoters Sangwerks and Paul in Chicago prove that the party is greater than the sum of its parts. Citing inspiration from the legendary Hacienda nightclub in Manchester, UK—the onetime home of New Order and Factory Records—promoters Sang Yi (Sangwerks) and Paul Rodriguez (Paul in Chicago, Dark Wave Disco) are hoping to draw upon the same spirit of fun-loving yet musically adventurous nights.

“The Hacienda was ahead of its time and stemmed from a pure love of music. It is in this spirit that Out of Order looks to make a name for itself,” explains Rodriguez.

Out of Order will also feature resident DJs Intel and Trancid—two cornerstones of Chicago’s nightlife, with the chops to cover all the musical bases.

Out of Order launches February 26, 2009 at Darkroom (2210 W. Chicago), and will move to the first Thursday of the month beginning April 2, 2009. 9pm-2am. $5 cover before 11pm with RSVP to rsvp@outoforderchicago.com .
